In terms of the future, we always have many anticipation, even the film blockbusters released in these years continue to challenge our expectations of future products. Perhaps for the smart phone user, its future is to with cool functions and super capability. Hang out with smartphone can chase after the girls, Standby time extent longer than 10 thousands years...Now we stand here, if we only discuss this kind of things, bla bla bla bla...it only can show that we are very boring and it's nonsense. After all, for the smart phones, we hope to join some basic but very practical function.

 Today we just talked about smart phone parameters, here we come to talk about how the smart phone developing in the near future. Let's take a look at the smart phone developing in the past two years, its hardware comes to a true "High-speed channel". From 1GHz, Dual-core to recent Quad-core, smart phone hardware developing almost as fast as light. However, such fast high speed allows us to image the future product, how is the smart phone hardware going in the near future?

Single core, Dual-core to Quad-core, multi-core hardware will not be unlimited down. 

1GHz processor began to spread in 2010, dual-core processors began to spread in 2011, till right now the quad-core processors announced. We can say that smart phone experienced 3 years 3 revolutions. Besides the function of smartphone also get through multiple Great Leap, here many friends might ask, is there 6 core processors launching in the next year?

The reality is not like this, we can't say that the more core the stronger performance. The multi-core processors designed efficiency in order to meet the big performance computing. In theory, to enhance the frequency, just enhance the number of cores can achieve. However, the problem of multi-core is how to effectively manage power consumption as well as day-to-day standby time. Besides, the more core the more power consumption, which obviously is a negative point to the smartphone.

Actually the future smart phone processor core will not increase infinitely; it is to make the process more sophisticated as well as the technical aspects. We saw snapdragon processor basically is follow this route, from the first 65nm to 45nm and then 28nm, this is the technology advances bring the performance improvements. Meanwhile the processing cores from the Cortex-A8 to Cortex-A9 to the latest Cortex-A15, its overall performance have a big improvement. The dual-core Cortex-A15 compare to the Dual-core Cortex-A9, it improved much again, which is the future trend of processor development.

Basiclly all the operations of the human-computer interaction need to be completed on the screen, so the performances highlight the importance of the screen. From the resistive touch screen to recently capacitive touch screen, the improvement of screen technology made the smartphone function an earthshaking change. and the next phone hardware breakthrough is the screen.

The development of Screen technology will certainly bring a new revolution, the only thing we can do now is just wait and to see.

ReRAM memory big revolution

To the response speed of smart phone, the CPU control is not the only key point effect the response, at the same time, Memory technology is another essential point. Nowadays the existing memory technology standard already made higher requirements to the read/write speed and response time. As right now, the new generation ReRAM technology already appeared.

ReRAM sounds quite strange, actually ReRAM combined the read and write speeds of DRAM and SSD nonvolatile in one. In other words, the memory can still remember the data after the power is turned off. If ReRAM have a large enough space, the PC equipped with ReRAM will no longer need leading time. This will bring a new memory revolution for Smart phones, Tablet PCs, PC computers...etc. The latest news indicates that Panasonic(the ReRAM technical follow-up)has begun planning for the smartphone with ReRAM, it seems like we can get more technical details of this technology in this year.

Certainly, we also can not forget the cloud technology, no matter how powerful the hardware of the phone, it will not be better than the server. The characteristics of the mobile phone is easy to carry, display excellent, but the characteristics of the server is the powerful function. In the near future, if the network speed can upgrade to some advance extent, the powerful cloud technology will fundamentally change the hardware structure, people can access to the server through an ultra-high speed network as visit the local hard disk. Then the smart phone hardware demand will be very low, because with the high-speed network, all the computing will be on the server side. At the end, the smartphone can focus more on the user experience.

In fact, we have seem more and more attractive function added on the smartphone as the technology developing in the past several years. But if the network speed can not get a qualitative leap, the hardware request still needs to go forward. In this rapidly changing era, we don't need just one by one dazzling product, we need courage the driving force. I believe the development of smart phones will be more powerful and we can get a bright future.
